A New Alfa Romeo Makes its Debut with the Tonale Plug-In Hybrid SUV

Alfa Romeo Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Concept Design and Features Overview

Alfa Romeo is beginning to dip its nose into the electric field of the automotive world, preparing for a more variable future of car models. That now starts with the Alfa Romeo Tonale, a plug-in hybrid SUV concept that has just debuted at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show.

The question that remains, however, is how this new model will match up to the Italian design elements and dynamic thrills of the Alfa Romeo brand.

Alfa Romeo Tonale Design and Style

As expected of an Alfa Romeo model, the Tonale is a luxurious, premium SUV despite its hybrid build. It will be a compact SUV, essentially a smaller sibling to the Stelvio. Although obviously matching the styling cues of the Alfa Romeo brand and heritage, the Tonale brings its own unique flair to its model, especially with its unique triple-clustered “3 Plus 3” front headlamp design and a more angled, flowing rear for increased cargo volume and presence despite its more compact size.

The Alfa Romeo Tonale interior has a driver-oriented design with enough room to comfortably seat 4 passengers. We can glean less of its particulars through the released concept photos, but the interior of the Tonale includes aluminum and Alcantara trimming and cladding, leather seating, and translucent backlit panels to incorporate a seamless and immersive design of dynamic performance and luxury.

Alfa Romeo Tonale New Technology

Although the Alfa Romeo Tonale is sure to include many standard, luxury features found with current Alfa Romeo models, not much is yet known about unique technology to launch with the new model. That is, except for the announced “Alfista” and “Paddock” infotainment features.

“Alfista is pitched as an Alfa Romeo lifestyle experience. A fully connected interface broadcasts information about Alfa Romeo community events, clubs, and gatherings, as well as live news updates on the Alfa Romeo brand. Interaction with “Alfista” can also be used to confirm attendance and/or order tickets to Alfa Romeo events.

“Paddock” is an in-vehicle garage and market for the Alfa Romeo Tonale. The “Paddock” app allows real-time shopping of Alfa Romeo accessories, equipment, and additional upgrades, as well as a slew of Alfa Romeo merchandise and apparel. Everything featured within the app can be ordered through “Paddock” with ease.
